Frequently Asked Questions

Why Use HealthCore?

Our Training

Training should be friendly, confidence-building, and practical. Our sessions are hands-on, scenario-based, and taught in plain English. We prioritize practice over slides, using industry-leading simulation equipment (from Laerdal and Practiman) to ensure realism. We keep the atmosphere relaxed and supportive, ensuring every candidate leaves feeling ready to act when it counts.

Our Company

As a nurse-led provider based in the East Midlands, we set a higher standard for safety training. Your course will be delivered exclusively by Registered Healthcare Professionals with current NHS clinical experience. We bridge the gap between theory and reality, giving you the confidence that comes from learning from those who save lives for a living. Don't settle for tick-box training when lives depend on it.

Who is the Basic Life Support course for?

Gain the skills to make a difference when it counts. Our Derby based Basic Life Support course is designed to take you from a beginner or refresher level to being fully confident in delivering high-quality CPR and using an AED. We cater to both clinical staff and the general public, offering a supportive environment led by expert instructors.

You will leave knowing exactly how to apply practical, life-saving knowledge in real-world scenarios.

Where in Derby is the training held?

For Derby, we book venues on the Nottingham side of the city, such as Pride Park, Spondon, Chaddesden and the Raynesway industrial area, close to the A52, A6096 and M1 Junction 25. That keeps travel straightforward if you are coming from Nottingham or the wider East Midlands, avoids Derby city-centre parking costs, and gives you regular bus links into the city without paying premium inner-city venue rates. Full venue details and arrival instructions are sent out around two weeks before your course, once numbers are confirmed and we've secured a venue that's the right size for your group.

When will I get the exact venue address for my Derby course?

Listings usually name the area as clearly as we can, for example Derby (Pride Park) or Derby (Spondon), so you are not booking blind. Around two weeks before your Basic Life Support date we email the full address, parking notes and anything else you need for arrival, once that day’s venue is locked in.

Do you offer a separate Adult and Paediatric BLS course?

We offer separate, tailored courses for organisations and dedicated group sessions, all of our public courses are delivered as combined sessions. While you might not work with both adults and children every day, having the awareness to help a casualty of any age is vital. We think it is better to be prepared for any situation. There is a lot of crossover between Adult and Paediatric BLS. For example, the core principles of the primary survey and incident assessment remain the same. By combining these sessions, you get a more complete set of skills.

Is Basic Life Support accredited training?

Yes. Our Basic Life Support course is accredited by The First Aid Industry Body and aligns with 2025 Resuscitation Council UK guidelines. It is also mapped to the Skills for Health Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF) and led by experienced healthcare professionals. Upon completion, you will receive a certificate providing 3 hours of Verifiable CPD, fully recognised by the CQC, NMC, GDC, and GMC for clinical compliance and annual appraisals.

How long is a Basic Life Support certificate valid for?

In line with UK national guidelines, your Basic Life Support certification will be valid for 12 months. We recommend booking an annual refresher to keep your practical skills sharp and your compliance up to date.

Do I need any previous medical experience to attend?

Our trainers will tailor the session to you. This course is designed to be accessible for complete beginners while still meeting the rigorous standards required for experienced clinical staff refreshing their skills.

What should I wear for the session?

We recommend wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothing (like trousers and a t-shirt) and flat shoes. Our training involves active clinical simulation and practical skills, such as CPR and recovery positions, so you will need to move around freely and kneel on the floor.

What should I bring on the day?

As this is an accredited programme, please bring your booking confirmation, photo ID and a notepad. All training materials are provided. Please also bring your own refreshments.
