Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the Community Basic Life Support course for?

Gain the skills to make a difference when it counts. Our Derby based Community Basic Life Support course has been specifically written for community groups, charity organisations and members of the public who want to go from a beginner or refresher level to being fully confident in delivering high-quality CPR and using an AED.

You will leave knowing exactly how to apply practical, life-saving knowledge in real-world scenarios.

Where in Derby is the training held?

For Derby, we book venues on the Nottingham side of the city, such as Pride Park, Spondon, Chaddesden and the Raynesway industrial area, close to the A52, A6096 and M1 Junction 25. That keeps travel straightforward if you are coming from Nottingham or the wider East Midlands, avoids Derby city-centre parking costs, and gives you regular bus links into the city without paying premium inner-city venue rates. Full venue details and arrival instructions are sent out around two weeks before your course, once numbers are confirmed and we've secured a venue that's the right size for your group.

Is Community Basic Life Support accredited training?
You can optionally undertake a formal assessment at the end of the course to obtain a certificate accredited by the First Aid Industry Body (FAIB). There is no additional cost to this. We teach all of our courses using expert national guidance and they are led by highly experienced healthcare professionals. If you are a health or care professional looking for nationally recognised training, we provide a combined Adult and Paediatric Basic Life Support course.
How long is a Community Basic Life Support certificate valid for?
In line with UK national guidelines, your Community Basic Life Support certification will be valid for 12 months. We recommend booking an annual refresher to keep your practical skills sharp and your compliance up to date.
Do I need any previous medical experience to attend?
No. This our Community Basic Life Support is specifically tailored to community groups, charity organisations and members of the public.
What should I wear for the session?
We recommend wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothing (like trousers and a t-shirt) and flat shoes. Our training involves active clinical simulation and practical skills, such as CPR and recovery positions, so you will need to move around freely and kneel on the floor.
